The executives also said HDFC had proceeded with a public issue

Masala bonds can be more expensive than issuing bonds in the local market because of India's 5 per cent withholding tax on such international deals. hdfcbank-afp_0.jpg Masala bonds can be more expensive than issuing bonds in the local market because of India's 5 per cent withholding tax on such international deals. London: Household Development Finance Corporation (HDFC) aims to raise more money via so-called "masala" bonds after making its debut issue last month and other Indian companies may follow, the bank's executives said.HDFC raised 30 billion rupees on July 14 via the "masala" bond, an offshore-traded, rupee-denominated issue.Yielding 8.33 per cent and listed on the London Stock Exchange, the bond attracted 87 billion rupees in bids.HDFC Chairman Deepak Parekh and CEO Keki Mistry, speaking at the London Stock Exchange on Monday, told Reuters masala bonds were an opportunity for Indian firms to raise money, while giving international investors access to higher yields in a zero-yield world."India's need for funding for infrastructure is massive, the private sector has limited resources and the capacity of Indian banks to lend large sums of money is restricted by the amount of deposits they can mobilise," Parekh said."So we have to look overseas for funding.""We lend in rupees so we want to borrow in rupees," he said, noting that of the 50 billion rupee issuance limit for HDFC under the masala programme, 20 billion remained which the bank would tap in due course."We are getting calls from SWFs around the world, saying 'the next 20 billion, just give it to us'," he said.Buyers of the bond launched last month included sovereign wealth funds, they said.India has overtaken China to become the world's fastest-growing big economy and is expected to expand around 7.8 per cent this year. That along with falling inflation and a steady currency has made the country attractive to investors.HDFC is one of the biggest emerging market financial institutions outside China. The group's shares are up almost 9 per cent this year, in line with India's benchmark Nifty index.Masala bonds can be more expensive than issuing bonds in the local market because of India's 5 per cent withholding tax on such international deals. But the HDFC executives said falling yields could make up for this as the market expands. They said several Indian companies were considering masala bonds despite the withholding tax.HDFC's bond has risen since its launch and now yields 7.78 percent, they said."It's a new market ... and my sense was the first issue would be priced a bit higher but if we do a follow-on issue we will be able to do it at a lower cost," Mistry said. While thin secondary market liquidity is widely seen as a stumbling block for the masala market, Mistry pointed to the big order book as evidence that this might be changing.

The executives also said HDFC had proceeded with a public issue rather than a private placement for SWFs because HDFC was keen to have a traded instrument.Parekh said Indian companies would like the withholding tax to be scrapped and are talking to the finance ministry."Money we can raise overseas to meet India's infrastructure needs is far more important than the money the government can make from the withholding tax," he said.

The Supreme Court will hear the petition in WhatsApp&China instant water heating faucet Manufacturers039;s fate in India on June 29. dc-Cover-8mib8m57n7fme1mgt0emlnsul6-20160624084654.Medi_.jpeg The Supreme Court will hear the petition in WhatsApp's fate in India on June 29.After WhatsApp turned on end-to-end encryption (E2E) to secure the privacy of their one billion active users, debates over user’s privacy versus the country’s security immediately sprouted. WhatsApp’s decision on the 256-bit encryption came after the FBI-Apple battle over seeking messages from the locked iPhone of a claimed terrorist.

Though encrypting messages may be a great option where hackers and the government cannot snoop on the user’s private lives, this causes a huge issue when the police have to crack into messages that are passed on using this channel to protect its citizens.Following the enabling of WhatsApp encryption, many activists around the world claimed it as a potential threat to National security. In India, an encryption of up to 40-bit is considered legal and services that are implementing this type of encryption have to register with the government. Those who are using higher encryption are presently in the gray area, and so is the case with WhatsApp. Hence, indirectly, WhatsApp is presently illegal in India, but there are no guidelines as yet in the country which can ban them for now.Earlier last month, an RTI activist from Gurgaon, Sudhir Yadav, had filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking a complete ban on the messaging platform WhatsApp. The RTI petition # was filed under the registration number DOTEL/R/2016/50413. Sudhir wants a ban on WhatsApp because they have decided to encrypt all messages that get exchanged on the platform. He also said that any terrorist can safely chat on WhatsApp and make plans to harm the country and the Indian intelligence agencies would not be able to tap them to take necessary actions. The Supreme Court will hear a petition on June 29— seeking a ban on WhatsApp on the ground that the messaging app’s E2E encryption could pose as a threat to the country’s security—as it gives terrorists a means of easy communication and that it is impossible to intercept by the government and security agencies.Other than WhatsApp, the petition has also asked the court to take a decision on other highly encrypted messaging services such as Hike, Secure Chat, Viber and a few others. The Supreme Court will hear the petition on June 29, which will decide the fate of WhatsApp and a few other messaging platforms in India. Will WhatsApp be banned Should WhatsApp be banned Come June 29, we shall hear what the Supreme Court has to dictate.(This story is originally appeared on Deccan Chronicle)

They have failed miserably when you look at the state of the economy

The main Opposition Congress party on Friday accused the Modi government of "working overtime” tapping the phones of the Opposition, civil servants and judges and asked it to stop this game of politic wholesale electric faucet The main Opposition Congress party on Friday accused the Modi government of "working overtime” tapping the phones of the Opposition, civil servants and judges and asked it to stop this game of political blackmail.

The Congress chose the last day of the Parliament session to warn the government to desist from playing these tricks against those who are refusing to toe the government line. The party’s senior spokesman and deputy leader in the Rajya Sabha Anand Sharma told reporters, "There is a dirty tricks department in the BJP government, which is working overtime tapping phone of Opposition, civil servants and judges.”He alleged that the government is putting senior leaders and bureaucrats under surveillance, manufacturing documents, using state agencies and "pliable” sections of the media.Cautioning the government to stop this game of political blackmail, he said it was "spreading canards” and making attempts at "defamation”.

Wondering as to how classified documents of the ministry of defence, CBI and ED have been selectively leaked to few channels and agencies, he said this created an "incomplete picture”."The selective leaking and distribution of classified documents creates an incomplete picture. The whole picture is brought out by the Opposition in Parliament,” Mr Sharma said.He said the government, instead of targeting the Opposition, should focus on delivering on its promises.

They have failed miserably when you look at the state of the economy, job growth, falling exports and falling investment rate.”Turning to the just-concluded session, he said the Budget Session passed 24 laws, a record in itself.Noting that since 2014, when the Modi government assumed office, more than 80 bills have been passed, he said this is "testimony of a mature Opposition”."This is also a rejection of the canard spread by PM Modi that the Opposition was hindering passage of bills,” he said.

All 16 clubs in China’s top league have been forced to incorporate the names of new owners or sponsors in their team names — constant changes that irritate fans. Others clubs been forced to move home, sometimes more than once."The football association needs to learn,” said Bian, who protested moves to rebrand Shanghai Shenhua, the club he follows. "The league shouldn’t allow clubs to keep changing names, because only then will they be able to attract more fans.”The Chinese football association did not respond to a request for comment.China is currently hosting some of Europe’s biggest clubs, who flock to China to tap a millions strong pool of fans and some deep-pocketed investors.Manchester United had been due to take on Manchester city, now part Chinese owned, in a pre-season match later on Monday at Beijing’s Bird’s Nest stadium — their first derby outside England, though the game has been cancelled due to weather concerns and the state of China wholesale instant electric water heater tap the pitch. The build-up to that match, in the middle of a busy Chinese league season, had overshadowed the clash between Shanghai Shenhua and city rivals Shanghai SIPG.

Buying foreign talent may increase interest, China spent more in the winter transfer window than the entire English Premier League, but as with the Gulf states, sports industry veterans warn it will do little to boost the home-grown talent that China needs if it is to achieve Xi’s ambition of one day winning the World Cup.China currently ranks 81st in the world, behind St Kitts and Nevis, whose population of 55,000 would fit into Shanghai SIPG’s stadium."China’s top-down approach to everything does not fit football at all,” said Cameron Wilson, who runs Wild East Football, a news website devoted to Chinese soccer."You need a solid and long-standing football culture to generate a supply of people who have grown up watching, playing and most importantly, loving football.”Last year, China drew up a far-reaching reform plan aimed at reinvigorating the domestic game, which it said was "lagging in all respects”.High on its agenda was creating "hundred-year clubs” rooted in local communities and nurturing a genuine grass-roots sporting culture.

To achieve this, it said it would curtail the power of rich investors to relocate or rebrand teams on a whim. But for now, money speaks loudest.Even as it called for a bottom-up sporting culture, China also demanded the establishment of "competitive brands” and set a target of swelling the sports industry to 3 trillion yuan ($450 billion), six times the estimated value of the existing global sports market — by 2020.Of course, without sponsorship, China’s clubs would have no chance of importing international stars such as former Arsenal and Roma striker Gervinho or Senegal’s Demba Ba. Such banner signings have fuelled lucrative TV deals — but not yet homegrown success."There are differences in culture, in the national personality and tradition,” said Waley Ho, founder of Reds in Shanghai, a Manchester United supporters group. "It will still need time.”Fans say the removal of sponsors’ names from club crests would go a long way.Shanghai SIPG, formed in 2005 and explicitly modelled on Manchester United, founded in 1878, has already undergone two relocations and two name changes.

It is now named after the Shanghai International Port group, a state backer with the resources to pay a Chinese record of more than 50 million euros ($55.15 million) to sign Brazilian international Hulk from Zenit St Petersburg.Bian and other Shanghai Shenhua fans protested in 2014 after their new owners, the Greenland Group, announced plans to change the club’s name and put the group’s logo on the club crest. The club did not respond to requests for comment.Despite a compromise, which saw the club rebranded as Shanghai Greenland Shenhua, fans speaking after last Sunday’s derby against Shanghai SIPG said they still hope the owners’ name can be removed even if they can see an upside."Without them, we wouldn’t have Demba Ba,” shrugged Bian.

The camera is focused on portraits of people

The iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR refine the mobile experience Apple created with last year’s iPhone X. The iPhone XS Max has a 12-megapixel dual-lens camera. This consists of a wide angle lens and 2x telephoto lens. With Diwali just around the bend, photographs to cherish the special moments are on everyone’s agenda. The iPhone XS/XS Max and the iPhone XR, the two latest additions in Apple’s line-ups boast some stellar cameras. What way to make Diwali a little better than by employing these tricks to get the best out of your new iPhones.iPhone XS MaxBoth the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max have Portrait Mode on the front and rear cameras. To use Portrait Mode, open the camera and swipe the menu slider left until you see Portrait.

You’ll see a carousel appear with different lighting options such as Natural Light, Contour Light, Stage Light, Natural Light, and more. Select your desired option and press the shutter button. If you want to use the front-facing camera, just tap the camera rotate icon to the right of the shutter button. With Depth Control you can control the amount of blur in the background after you’ve taken the photo. Photographer: Varun AdityaInstagram: The iPhone XS Max has a 12-megapixel dual-lens camera. This consists of a wide angle lens and 2x telephoto lens. Both lenses have optical image stabilisation. This makes it easier to capture shake-free photos in low light. If you want to capture the beautiful diyas and twinkling fairy lights that are lighting up your home, you will need to keep your iPhone extremely steady so that you can capture all the sharp details of these lights. Place the iPhone XS Max in a stationary position to avoid blur/shaky images. You can also use the timer function while the camera or phone is stationed, to prevent it from shaking right after you click. For a proper professional looking output, place your subject in good light and choose a subtle dark background.

One of the most exciting new camera features is the advanced Portrait mode. This updated feature now lets you adjust the depth of field in your photos. This means you can control how blurred the background appears. Portrait mode works like magic when you have more light in the background especially with fairy lights. Start by making sure that your subject is no more than eight feet away. Make sure they’re no closer than two. It beautifully meters the scene by giving you the professional looking bokeh with proper logic depending on the background you choose. Choose colourful background for better images. Depth Control is a major breakthrough that gives you DSLR-like control over your iPhone camera. And the best thing about it is that you can change the depth of field after taking your photo. When you’ve taken a picture using Portrait mode, open it in the Photos app, and tap Edit.

The Depth slider lets you adjust the depth of field, from f/1.4 to f/1.6.Smart HDR allows you to capture stunning HDR photos of moving subjects. The subject will appear sharp, with no ghosting effect. And the image will be well lit throughout, with detail and colour in the shadows and highlights. This new feature works by taking many photos at different exposures. The camera’s software analyses the images and creates a seamlessly blended HDR photo.Compose your image in advance. This means you should have a rough idea of where fireworks will be visible in the skyPlay With the exposure. iPhoneXS Max camera is the fastest there is and the best ever in light metering. Fireworks at night is actually bright and the background is going to be dark naturally. So getting a magical photograph with colours and light with dark background is not really hard! Here’s how it is: Just tap focus the bright area of any subject and try underexposing by sliding down on the screen and just click Burst mode which allows you to fire off about ten shots per second or by tapping the shutter button fast as possible. To activate burst mode, press and hold the shutter button. Your iPhone will keep taking photos until you let go.

Touch holding the shutter button.Do no forget to turn on the Live Mode! It is such a magical feature where you cannot miss any moment. The Live Photo feature is also great for photographing moving objects. It allows you to really capture the movement in a scene. A Live Photo actually records 1.5 seconds before and after you press the shutter. So make sure that you keep the camera still for a few moments before actually hitting the button. Once you’ve taken your Live Photo, you can still have a bit more fun. Find your Live Photo in the Photos app. Then swipe up to open the Effects panel. You’ll see four options: Live, Loop, Bounce, and Long Exposure. Try Light Painting with your iPhone. You need to buy a little mobile phone tripod for this. Place your phone on the tripod, photograph the moving fireworks and try using the Long Exposure from the effects panel. Always anticipate the pace of the firework to capture it at the right moment and remember to keep your flash switched off. Take a picture with a beautifully lit space as a backdrop or strike the perfect pose just before you burst the firecrackers. Avoid using flash. The first tip is to ensure that you use the available lighting to allow the phone’s sensor to gather as much information as possible. Position your iPhone as such that you can use the light as a source and then capture the required subject. Stop using flash in case of capturing lights or diyas as that becomes counter-intuitive. So as mentioned above, try to use the actual light as a source instead of using the artificial illumination. Having said that, if you’re capturing something in the indoors, and there’s no light, then flash definitely will come in handy. Diwali is also all about meeting and greeting people and this definitely calls for some selfies.

Use the improved Portrait mode on the front camera; find a colourful background to nail a perfect selfie with beautiful blur in the background. To capture the true festive feeling, you need to shoot them with all the decorations and lighting in the background. For such outdoor pictures, find a place with more lights around then find a background which is either dark or with colours and lights. Do not forget to underexpose to gain more shutter speed which will help you take good pictures of people bursting crackers or just enjoying the festival against a background that&China instant water tap electric faucet Suppliers39;s fully lit-up. You can also try using flash to light up faces while the bright lights are behind the subject. But again remember, composition is everything and choosing the right background is very important. Try composing in such a way so that background enhances your shots. The new faster image sensor allows you to shoot better quality # videos on the iPhone XS and XR models. You can capture amazing colour and detail, even in low light. And the iPhone XS models have four microphones, allowing you to record stereo sound.iPhone XRWith the new LCD display, Smart HDR, and Single Lens Portrait Mode, there’s been a lot to check out.Photographer: Siddhartha JoshiInstagram: It’s a much bigger field of view and that really helps in composing the shotToggle between the different Portrait lighting modes to see how the image will look. The camera sensor features deeper, larger pixels. Deeper to improve image fidelity. And larger to allow more light to hit the sensor. The result? Even better low‑light photos.

The camera is focused on portraits of people, and it’s also really quick with finding faces and locking on them. This makes clicking portraits of people faster and a joy with the device.Find A Portrait Background that makes the subject pop. Portrait photography isn’t just about having a great subject. It’s also about having a great background. Also, make sure that your subject wears colours that are different from the surrounding elements. Otherwise, your subject will blend into the background. You need to compose carefully. Composition refers to the placement of elements in an image. When framing or composing your shot, keep in mind that you don’t need to centre your subject. Another composition tip is to frame your subject. Do this by using a natural frame such as a doorway or window. If you’re photographing outdoors, look for trees or bushes. Then place your subject inside them.4K video and wider stereo playback. iPhone XR shoots the highest‑quality video of any smartphone. With better low‑light performance. Extended dynamic range in videos up to 30fps stereo recording and stereo playback with wider sound separation.(Source)

The journey of dancer Kunal Om

Soon, he was travelling across Andalusia watching every possible show and "asking questions on the art form shamelessly to everybody possible”. "My early interest was in tap dancing. They come for three weeks and start teaching others from the fourth week. Flamenco is an umbrella term for a different kind of highly energised dance, which is performed with folk music from Southern Spain. "In the world of flamenco, these families are big — much like the Kapoors and Bachchans in Bollywood, if not more. But then I saw a performance at National Centre for Performing Arts (NCPA), which was an eye-opener,” recalls Kunal. Kunal (centre sitting) at school, Escuela Carmen De Las Cuvas in Granada, Spain "Great dancers are great because of their passion,” said the great American modern dancer Martha Graham.

The journey of dancer Kunal Om, from Mumbai to Granada in Spain — from Bollywood dance to flamenco — is a story of true passion for the art form. "Flamenco is a dance form prevalent among the gypsies in Andalusia in Spain. Soon enough, he was one of the organisers at the festival and there, he says, he had his preliminary foundation of flamenco.Fulfilling the dream:But that was just the beginning. But there was no way I could learn it in India. Not only was I having a language problem, I felt the idea was a disaster. "In fact, in the film Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, the flamenco depiction was more a Bollywoodisation of the art and several artists feel insulted in Spain,” he adds with a tone of embarrassment. "Well, my dream is to open a flamenco tablao in the city, which would be a flamenco school in the day and a performing space by night,” he says. The fun part of flamenco comes much later but the initial days are extremely difficult and many people might be bored out of it,” he explains. China instant heating electric tap Manufacturers "I approached flamenco musically, I followed the rhythm and things became easier. The journey:The performance, which he cites as a turning point in his career was a collaboration between the late Kathak exponent, Pandit Chitresh Das and flamenco star Antonio Hidalgo.

I thought being a professional dancer for 15 years, it would be easy for me to pick up flamenco and then after a year, I would come back,” he adds half-jokingly.In 2014, he surrendered all his assets that he had including his car and house, to leave for Spain and learn from the masters. It will be a good six hours introduction to the highly disciplined art of flamenco,” he concludes. On April 23, at Clap, Malad (West). But they were very kind and they accepted me warm heartedly and allowed me to stay with them and learn flamenco,” he says. "The first few months were extremely difficult.Apart from performing and collaborating with dancers from other disciplines, the 37-year-old dancer will be conducting rigourous workshops in the city too. Speaking on the rising popularity of dance forms like salsa and bachata, he says, "The problem is that most of the people who come to learn aren’t interested in learning it properly. "That was my first introduction to flamenco, which I thought was close to tap dancing. With whatever savings he had, he ended up in the city of Granada to find himself a master to teach him flamenco. Kunal recently choreographed a flamenco section for Hrithik Roshan at the IIFA in Madrid. "I was performing across the country back then, performing live with several troupes,” says Kunal. He patiently sat with me and explained to me all the brackets of flamenco,” he says.”

But that’s when his tabla lessons as a kid came handy. "Banks aren’t helpful if you want to pursue the arts.Soon Kunal was spending most of his time either researching on flamenco or sending mails to various flamenco schools and flamenco artists. But according to him, flamenco hasn’t yet arrived in India. However, I was so enthralled by the performance that I met Antonio after the concert and set an appointment to learn more from him. These gypsies had a link with Rajasthan and often thought to have migrated from here,” he points out a bit of information, which reassured his faith in himself. He recalls the warmth he had received from several families back in Spain.

However, he wants to keep shuttling between Spain and India, to learn, to perform and to disseminate the knowledge that he has earned. After sending more than 4,000 mails to various artists, he got a reply from famous flamenco artist, Karen Lugo. "This won’t be the usual hour-and-a-half light-hearted workshop. Soon he found himself performing with some of the best in the business, like Bosco-Caesar and Terrence Lewis. But his real interest was in learning and mastering an art form which nobody in India was keen to explore.

Later I realised how different the two forms are. "She introduced me to Roberto Nieddu, the director of Jodhpur Flamenco & Gypsy Festival,” he recalls. In the month of May, he will be going to Australia to perform at the Indian Film Festival & Awards of Australia 2017 (IFFAA 2017) in Sydney, where he’ll be sharing the stage with several stalwarts from the entertainment industry from India as well as Pakistan. He was kind enough and we met. "My ancestors were from Jodhpur and when I learnt this interesting fact, I felt I was on the right track,” Kunal says. So I had to plunge in whatever way I could,” he says. The origins have often been traced to Romanian gypsies.Future of flamenco in India:After three years of rigourous learning and practice, Kunal is still not sure if he has been able to master the art form. In the early nineties, right after school, Kunal started training under choreographer Darren Das

The regulator should seek direct access through an enforcement agency

Understandably it drew surprised and enraged reactions from fellow Mumbaikars

Speaking on his behalf, manager Raj Shaw of the Sakinaka branch said, "There may have been a misunderstanding. You know, to be turned down from a place at this age.”Interestingly, when we called the Bandra outlet of Tap to ask if they were in sync with their Sakinaka branch policies, we were told that everybody above 21 years of age was allowed. I was with my kids and I came all the way from Kolkata.

It doesn’t seem like that farfetched an idea given what played out at a suburban bar on Tuesday — well almost. My colleague asked them to sit in the low volume section since the other would make it difficult for them to communicate. When we further specified that we wanted to book a table for senior citizens, the person on the other side politely ‘suggested’ that we go to another of their franchisees that had ‘soft music’.

Understandably it drew surprised and enraged reactions from fellow Mumbaikars who had heard nothing of the sort before.A retired public sector employee from Kolkata, 67-year-old Sengupta was understandably upset about the incident. (Photo: Zomato) A certain detergent advertisement drew much scorn when it showed a family of three not being allowed into a mall because they ‘didn’t fit in’ with the crowd. As long as you’re young at heart, how does it matter? It wasn’t like we were going to upset the environment or anything. When they arrived at the venue, they were denied entry because the group included people ‘above 40’.”It was his daughter who put out a post on Facebook and later a review on Zomato stating the events of the previous night. We tried to speak to the staff member in question, but he wasn’t available for comment. We were stopped at the gate and told that we don’t allow people below 21 or above 40, says Shovon Sengupta. We hadn’t got an official statement from the restaurant till the time of going to press. It was probably more suited for the older crowd, he continued. Above 40! I understand if you have restrictions on things like bungee jumping or blood donation, but to stop someone from entering a bar because they’re above a certain age is weird. Talking to us over the phone he said, "My daughter had made the reservation but we were stopped at the gate and told that we don’t allow people below 21 or above 40

The left phone shows traffic information

The photo display will take you down memory lane, as images from past trips, weddings and family events come up. It’s not perfect, though: Google still hasn’t figured out that I don’t own a car and have no use for driving directions.Google wants to help you manage daily life, from screening unwanted phone calls to predicting what you’ll type. Soon, you’ll be able to let Google’s facial-recognition technology just pick out photos of your family, including new shots as you take them (though not in the European Union, where privacy regulations are tighter. Then there’s the task of tagging which is a number for home, work or cell, and what context you met that person in.

Perhaps Google’s assistant could one day handle all that for you without even ringing the phone, then decide based on the response whether to interrupt your game of "Fortnite. The Pixel 3, out Thursday, starting at about $800, is for those who can’t wait.”But legitimate callers would still find this annoying. It also works with QR and barcodes. You still need a few extra taps to add the information to your contact list. When screening calls, for instance, all interactions stay private unless you report the number as spam, in which case it gets added to Google’s database as a warning to others.A NOTE ON PRIVACYGoogle executives emphasise that much of the AI analysis is taking place on the phone, not Google’s servers.”It’s a good concept, though it’s not clear that it really saves time. The Pixel isn’t likely to work for anyone uncomfortable with that trade-off. If only Google was smart enough to remove the party shots never meant for public, sober viewing. Before bed, it offers to set your alarm. Google turns to software to make up for what it lacks in hardware.

It starts to cross the line of digital manipulation, but pictures do look nice. Or that I don’t need commute information on weekends. So do most of the requests you make on the Pixel stand.CALL SCREENINGNo doubt you’ve got an automated call from a telemarketer pitching lower interest rates or vacation shares. You can even request more information by tapping buttons such as "Tell me more. You still need to follow the voice assistant’s chatter; taking the call and hanging up would often be faster. Last year’s Pixel phones had this Google Lens feature, while Samsung has a similar feature called Bixby Vision. The camera also uses software to combine multiple versions of images, essentially filling in some gaps so that zoomed-in shots come out sharper than they normally would.TEXT RECOGNITIONPoint the camera at a business card, flyer or other printed text, and Google will try to extract phone numbers and addresses.

It didn’t help that I kept tapping "I can’t understand,” forcing friends to repeat themselves over and over to a robot. The software underscores how Google is tapping its strengths in personalization — and perhaps make money through ads in the process. The stand works well as a bedside companion. If this sounds familiar, it’s because it is. It’s still no replacement from a real zoom, which the latest Apple and Samsung phones offer via a second lens. Or you can trust Google to select the best shots. The feature is most useful if you have a business card or flyer handy when you’re ready to make a call, visit a website or get directions through Google Maps. As impressive as Google’s ambitions are, though, AI is still new at the job of saving us from meaningless tasks.

The left phone shows traffic information as part of assistant features on Stand and the right phone shows option to screen incoming calls. The difference: Before, you had to tap something to activate a feature. The basic text recognition for the Google Lens feature and the camera’s image processing also are done on the device. It’s really a showcase for Google’s latest advances in software, particularly in artificial intelligence. Google now lets you fight back with an automated response. When a mystery call comes in, just hit "Screen call. That may not come until an eventual Pixel 9 or Pixel 13.You get free services in exchange for letting Google deeper into your life.” Google’s voice assistant takes over and asks for a name and purpose of the call. In the morning, one tap gets you the weather, upcoming calendar events and details about traffic on your commute. That much management might incline you to let those piles of business cards keep stacking up.Google wants to help you manage daily life, from screening unwanted phone calls to predicting what you’ll type.

There’s not much about the physical details of Google’s new Pixel 3 phone that you can’t find elsewhere. China wholesale instant heating tap Transcribed responses appear in real time, so you can decide whether to pick up. For regular photos, Google captures extra shots
as alternatives, in case someone blinks or blocks the view, though Google’s recommendations aren’t always spot on, as even humans can disagree on what looks best. That bigger display and curved design? Apple and Samsung phones already have that.SMART SNAPPINGJust smile or make a funny face for the selfie camera to automatically take the shot. But the Pixel doesn’t intend to wow people with its hardware anyway. Now it’s automatic.A SMART STAND-INPlace the phone on an optional $79 Pixel Stand charging station, and it can display a rotating set of images from an album you choose. But more advanced Google Lens features, such as recognizing museum paintings, require sending data to Google’s servers
